Miluska & Ilmarin. An elopement inspiration at Seebad Enge, Zurich.
“I knew I loved you when suddenly ‚home‘ went from a place to a person.”
It all started a long time ago. I was so tired of the typical inspiration shoots occurring all over the web. Beautiful people, amazing sceneries and mind-blowing decorations. Don’t get me wrong: I LOVE to look at and shoot things like this. Everyone does. But how does it really inspires brides-to-be? Where is the connection between what they get to see and their own wedding?
I started to think about it more often. Especially how I could create an inspiration about a non-standard wedding with a bridge to reality.
Here comes my vision and what it looks like.
Most of the people here in Switzerland – and everywhere in the world – still plan their weddings in the traditional way. So they are just getting married like everyone else. Like they think it has to be. Just a handfull of couples are „crazy“ enough to break with traditions and say „I do“ the way they are: Authentic.
I imagined a couple to elope in the city of Zurich at Seebad Enge. It’s a famous, fancy and very typically lake resort at Lake Zurich. Nobody used it as a place for a wedding ceremony before, but it just begs for it! I wanted everyone to see what I see: A non-tradionell but totally tangible inspiration. Even with guests it would be a stunning location to get married at.
Furthermore I wanted to create an inspiration that tells a story, is based on affordable, athentic details and contains a real couple with true feelings.
We started the day with the Getting Ready at Seebad Enge. It just seemed natural to use their changing rooms. The First Look took place next to a magnolia tree. I asked the couple to exchange some thoughts about their past and their future together during the ceremony to make it feel real. For the last portraits we drove torwards Hardbrücke and Frau Gerolds Garten. An area which locates great bars, modern shops and has a nice urban touch.
The wedding dress is a two-piece dress. Worn together all day and just the upper part – which is a shift dress – for the evening.
Sitting here, scrolling through those pictures is still unbelievable for me. Everything turned out like I imagined it before – just a million times better! Thanks to my awesome team! You guys made me help not just dreaming this whole thing but get it REAL!
I hope it will be an inspiration for everyone who is willing to see the real beauty of a wedding.
I can’t wait to read you thoughts about it!
